Hines Drive is a natural flood plain that’s been turned into a park / road in the Detroit area. On Saturdays, May-September they close the road off during the day (until 3:30-ish) so you can bike or blade or walk without cars driving by. Where there is lots of rain it closes, since it floods.
I was hesitant to tag this with insect (isn’t 6 legs the rule?), but I googled it and got “A caterpillar is the larva of a butterfly or moth. A butterfly is a diurnal insect. So, a caterpillar is a baby insect.”
I think I shot this at one of the parks along Hines Drive or maybe it’s the seat of a bench in front of Hamtramck City Hall (I’d eat lunch outside at the park when I worked in Hamtramck) but it doesn’t look bright enough to be directly outside (even with clouds). I know I shot it in May or June of 2010 but I’m just not sure where I took it…
I don’t have any idea what kind of bug this is or what kind of flowers. But I thought the bug came out okay for an iPhone 4 camera and the focus was interesting. There were some better looking flowers, but I couldn’t get the bug to pose over there.
This was taken on Hines Drive near Telegraph. There is a bunch of flowers (and wild stuff) in a plot on the far side of the soccer field closer to telegraph.
